• Corteo – Sydney

Qudos Bank Arena 19 Edwin Flack Ave, Sydney, NSW, Australia

Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality. .

  • Luzia – Washington

Big Top - Tysons II 2001 International Dr, McLean, VA, United States

A waking dream of Mexico Luzia takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. Through a series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, Luzia invites audiences to escape on a surrealistic journey through a sumptuous and vibrant world suspended somewhere between dreams and reality. Smoothly passing from an old movie set to the ocean to a smoky dance hall or an arid desert, Luzia cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity. Rich in awe-inspiring moments, Luzia enchants by incorporating rain into acrobatic and artistic scenes – a first for a Cirque du Soleil touring production.

  • Titizé Vevey

Le Reflet Rue du Théâtre 4, Vevey, Switzerland

True to the language of dreams that brings back fleeting images, allusions and mirages, TITIZÉ is a show that carries the spectator into a rarefied and surreal universe. Its narrative, seemingly fragmented but deeply evocative, unfolds in a kaleidoscopic play that interweaves different planes of meaning, conjuring up a hyperbolic “grammelot.” “TITIZÉ,” “You are”: an emblematic word full of rhythm, whose evocative sound draws attention to the power of the verb “to be,” emphasizing the universality of an imagined experience to intimately engage a diverse audience of all ages. The show fuses tradition and innovation in a fascinating combination of clowning, the language of the body and acrobatics – which allows allusion, the creation of metaphors, and the amplification of emotions – and the use of innovative stage devices, resulting in a theatre of amazement and lightness, without the need for words. With a cast of eleven talented performers, including acrobats, actors and musicians, TITIZÉ invites the audience to immerse itself in the very essence of Venice, where the past and the present blend into one fascinating tale and the stories, scattered like seashells on the beach, each with its own beauty and mystery, are reconstructed into a precious mosaic. • Titizé Müpa Budapest

Festival Theatre Komor Marcell u. 1, Budapest, Hungary

Spettacolo ufficiale della Città di Venezia TITIZÉ – A VENETIAN DREAM – City of Venice’s official show “Our clownery has always been intimately linked to tradition and has echoes of the language of the Commedia dell’Arte. We produce shows in which we immerse multidisciplinary performers in rarefied universes where wonder is sometimes naive, sometimes ingenious, sometimes surreal. Reflections in the water, the hazy blur when the clouds descend lower and lower, and the mythical game of masquerade that reminds us of cloaking in order to reveal oneself and then reveal oneself again: the three magical movements that magicians and shamans know and have passed down. There will be the night and its madness, the antics of jesters, objects that levitate, acrobats that fly, surreal rain and a continuous recreation of impossible balance. There will be traditional characters that in a kaleidoscopic game will multiply, split, dismantle and reconstruct. There will be Venice with all its splendour, its atmosphere, its poetry and the mysteries that inhabit it.”

  • Bianco su Bianco – Lugano

Palazzo Congressi Piazza Indipendenza 4, Lugano, TI, Switzerland

Bianco su Bianco is a delicate and intense show that arose from the desire of the main creators of two Olympic ceremonies to return to an artistically intimate and small-scale dimension. It tells the story of Ruggero and Elena, of the young man’s difficult childhood, of the power of friendship that enables him to weather the storm and of the bond, as magical as it is mysterious, that is love, which will sustain them both as they scale one of the highest of mountains. It is a show where the two performers-actors-acrobats-clowns dialogue with a sophisticated and atmospheric universe made up of lights and sounds: a technology developed for the great forest of light that surmounted the Olympic stadium in Sochi and which, downsized for use in a theatre, becomes a further and impalpable performer in the show. Delicate, crystalline music accompanies the story of life and hope of this entertaining, fantastic and rather surreal couple. «We are creating a new show that plays –in keeping with our very own approach to storytelling– on the balance between a sweet and nostalgic form of absurd. Regardless of the simplicity and bareness of the theatrical apparatus, ours is a surrealist universe, somehow fiercely […]
