Antonio Vergamini (Bergamo, Italy), co-founder of Compagnia Finzi Pasca

Author, director, producer and actor

When he meets Daniele Finzi Pasca in 1992, he was working as a banker. The following year he leaves banking and, in 1994, he joins Teatro Sunil. Over the years, he works as an actor, author and director and participates in about twenty theatre shows, such as Visitatio, co-produced by Teatro Sunil and Montreal’s Carbone 14, Cyrano & Bergerac, adapted and directed along with Hugo Gargiulo, and Tres Tristes Tangos, which he co-create. These productions were presented in the following countries: Italy, Switzerland, France, Brazil, Austria, Uruguay, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Bolivia, Peru, Portugal, Chile and Russia.

Since 1998 he has directed and coordinated theater courses in Switzerland and abroad. He is the founder of the association cultural Longuel, based in Bergamo (IT). 

In 2005 he is acting designer of Corteo, produced by Cirque du Soleil, written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, which has been seen by over nine million spectators to this day.

He is part of the creation team which signs the Closing ceremony of the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
In 2006 he writes and directs five short films in which he also plays, all produced by Swiss Television. He is the director and screenwriter of Ana, a 50-minute documentary created with Walther Sievi and co-produced by Swiss Television (best documentary at the 2009 Abruzzo Documentary Film Festival). The film depicts the adventure of Ana Heredia’s theatre debut, a Mexican actress with Down syndrome.
In 2008 he writes and directs Opera Mobile (Youth Award at the 2009 Ascona International Festival), presented more than 150 times in Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy and Russia.
In 2009 he creates the concert-show Boleros. The following year he is hired as creation director for Donka. A letter to Chekhov, written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, produced by Compagnia Finzi Pasca and Moscow’s Chekhov International Theatre Festival, coproduced by Lausanne’s Théâtre Vidy. Still in 2010 he adapts, directs and plays in the show Salto & Mortale.In 2011 together with Daniele Finzi Pasca, Hugo Gargiulo, Julie Hamelin Finzi and Maria Bonzanigo, he founds the Compagnia Finzi Pasca, where Teatro Sunil and Inlevitas come together. In 2013 he is executive producer and artistic consultant for the new production of the company La Verità. He also participates in the creation of the show Kilora, a production of the Théâtre Onirique. In 2014 he is director’s assistant for the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Sochi. In 2016 he writes and directs Opera Guitta, which has so far been performed in Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Holland, and he also starts working on two new projects: the new show of Circo Zoè and the film Badaboum.

In 2021 he directs the show L’Elisir d’Amore , in co-production with the Donizetti Foundation and Festival Les Elancées.
